Rpaige Skyscraper Art Deco Watch

Background: After collaborating on the design of the “Duo-Face” watch from the Rpaige Watch Co., Richard Paige challenged Duo-Face case designer Mark Carson to come up with an unexpected watch design. The result was the art deco “Crash of ’29” watch which used restored vintage American pocket watch movements along with a newly designed and produced case, dial, and hands. The Crash of ’29 was successfully funded via Kickstarter in 2015.
This Project: Now, Mark and Richard are back again with the same great art deco case and hands but with a Swiss movement and a new art deco dial. The result is “The Skyscraper” watch by Rpaige which is being funded on Kickstarter through November 25, 2016.
As Richard put it, the original Crash of ’29 watch is, “like wearing the Chrysler Building on your wrist.” The structural case has a classical art deco form with an original trapezoidal shape that combines with the sculptural hands and a new silver sunray dial to give a unique and contemporary twist to the nearly century-old art deco design codes.
The much-admired art deco case of the original Crash of ’29 watch now hosts a new Swiss ETA/Unitas 6497 hand-wound movement which allows us to bring these pieces to you at unprecedented savings. Watches with Elabore movements will start at $925 USD for the earliest supporters and watches with the Premium movement will be available for $1200 USD.
Each limited edition watch has its series number engraved on the case: 1/150 through 150/150.
Premium movement: We have a strictly limited supply of 20 premium Swiss ETA/Unitas 6497 movements which have circular Geneva stripes, blued screws, swan neck regulation and a weighted balance. These will be numbered 1 through 20 in the series of 150 watches.
Elabore Movement: The remainder of the series (130 watches) will feature a Swiss ETA/Unitas 6497 Elabore grade movement with straight Geneva stripes and blued screws. These will be numbered 21 through 150.
Dimensions: The case is approximately 46.7mm wide by 57.5mm tall and 12.7mm thick. Even at this size, the angled lugs and flat bottom make the watch sit snugly on even average to smaller wrists.
Dial & Hands: The dial has a sunray silver background with black printing. The sculptured hands are silver and black. The dial and the hands all feature C3 Super LumiNova for easy reading in low light situations.
Case: The case is 316L surgical stainless steel. The top crystal and the exhibition back are both sapphire crystals. The oversize 12mm crown at 12 o’clock makes winding a pleasure and complements the bold look of the high-polished case. Water resistance will be rated at 50 meters (165 feet).
Warranty: The warranty is 12 months and covers the watch case, crown, dial, hands, and movement.
Straps: Each watch will be paired with a leather strap and will be sent in a zippered travel case. The high quality leather strap with stainless steel buckle comes in your choice of color and stitching.
