With Star Wars: Rogue One showing in cinemas now, it is apt that we are kicking off this roundup with one of the most badass Star Wars watches available. The Devon Star Wars watch isn’t a watch for every Star Wars fan, but it is arguably one of the most interesting pieces for a Star Wars nerd. High price tag aside, it is just an awesome piece of design that pays homage to the Imperial TIE Fighter and the Galactic Empire.

Moving on, we see how Tiffany & Co. is differentiating themselves in the luxury watch space by offering personalization services on their new CT60 watch. And finally, we take a closer look at Tudor’s new Heritage Black Bay watches and discuss Tudor’s bold move to manufacture its own movements.

Star Wars is one of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world, and there’s certainly no shortage of Star Wars watches out there. Seiko and Nixon are but only two companies that have made Star Wars watches. However, for the well-heeled and hardcore Star Wars fan, the Star Wars watch to have must been the Devon Star Wars watch. With a case that is inspired by the Imperial TIE Fighter, and featuring an innovative quartz movement that drives belts to tell the time, the Devon Star Wars watch is easily the dream watch of many fans of Star Wars, me included.

2. Omega Globemaster Watch Team Review

BEST FROM: aBlogtoWatch & Friends December 23, 2016 ABTW Round-Ups

This review is special for a few reasons. First of all, it is a team review where various members of the aBlogtoWatch team weigh in with their thoughts on the watch, which isn’t something we do often. Secondly, it is a review of the Omega Globemaster watch, which is a very interesting watch to me. The design of the Globemaster is clearly inspired by vintage Omega Constellation watches of old with pie-pan dials, but the movement within the new Globemaster watches is one of the most advanced that you will find at any price. Certified by METAS, the co-axial Caliber 8900 is chronometer-certified, features numerous silicon components, and is one of the few movements in the world to be virtually unaffected by magnetic fields.

3. TAG Heuer Aquaracer 300 Caliber 5 Titanium WAY208C Watch Review

BEST FROM: aBlogtoWatch & Friends December 23, 2016 ABTW Round-Ups

TAG Heuer’s Aquaracer 300 is a hot favorite amongst buyers who are looking for their first luxury watch from a major Swiss watch brand, and for good reason – it’s extremely well-made, hardy, and versatile. It is equally at home in the pool, at the beach, in the boardroom and even in the ballroom. It is a great choice for anyone who is looking to get into watches and is looking for something Swiss and a little edgy. At Baselworld 2016, TAG Heuer introduced a new range of Aquaracer watches that would come in black PVD titanium cases, and this is one of them – the Reference WAY208C that has a tan-on-black color scheme. This particular colorway might not be as versatile, but it is definitely more funky-looking.

4. Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Calendar Watch Hands On

The iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso turned 85 this year, and at SIHH 2016, Jaeger-LeCoultre announced a couple of new Reverso watches to commemorate the occasion. My favorite of the bunch has got to be the Reverso Tribute Calendar watch. It comes in a remarkably finished 18k rose gold case, but most of all, I love it because it has dual faces. On one side, you have a silver-textured dial that features the classic triple calendar read-out; and on the other side, you have a black hobnail dial with a day/night indicator and that can be set to show time in another time zone. It is as pretty as it is practical, and that’s something I always love in a watch.

5. Casio G-Shock MR-G MRGG1000B-1A Watch Review: The Luxury Beater

BEST FROM: aBlogtoWatch & Friends December 23, 2016 ABTW Round-Ups

The G-Shock MR-G family of watches have been around for 20 years and they are the crème de la crème of G-Shock watches. Featuring stainless steel or titanium cases and matching bracelets, these are high-end G-Shock watches that are completely unlike your regular G-Shock watches. In fact, because of their build quality and price level, these are really luxury G-Shock watches – if there ever were such a thing. But even so, these MR-G G-Shock watches still adhere to the basic principles and philosophy of a G-Shock, which is to say that they have to be as tough, as sturdy, and as hardy as the rest of the G-Shock lineup. Doesn’t that make them the ultimate luxury beater watches, then?

There’s been a shift in attitudes in the luxury market recently. It is no longer about old ideas of market perception or the most exotic materials. Exclusivity and customizability are in fashion, and brands are going all out to ensure that they can offer such services to their clients. For Tiffany & Co., that means the ability to personalize their CT60 watch. Customers will be able to choose their favorite materials for the case as well as their ideal dial color. And obviously, they will be able to engrave their names onto the watch itself or even the box that the watch comes in. Here’s what it is like personalizing your own Tiffany & Co. CT60 watch.
