1. A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Minute Repeater Watch Hands-On
Every year, A. Lange & Söhne announces a new “hero” watch at SIHH. In 2013, it was the epic Grand Complication; and last year saw the Richard Lange Perpetual Calendar “Terraluna.” For 2015, A. Lange & Söhne presented us with the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater watch. With its large digital indication of the time, the Zeitwerk is arguably A. Lange & Söhne’s most distinctive watch, but the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater takes things further by adding a decimal minute repeater. Join us as we take a closer look at this mega striking watch.

2. IWC Portugieser Annual Calendar Watch Hands-On
For 2015, IWC updated its Portugieser collection with the all new Portugieser Annual Calendar watch. As its name clearly says, it features an annual calendar complication, which means wearers only need to reset the date once a year during the end of February. While the complication is undoubtedly useful and convenient, the dial of the IWC Portugieser Annual Calendar watch caused many divided opinions. I didn’t really love it myself when I saw it first, but I’m warming up to it now, especially this blue dial variant.

3. Angelus U10 Tourbillon Lumiere Watch Hands-On
At Baselworld earlier this year, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the legendary brand of Angelus has been revived. Some of Angelus’ most iconic pieces are the Chronodato and Chrono-Datoluxe, but the brand is notable to me because of its association with Panerai. In any case, Angelus was one of the casualties of the Quartz crisis, and the company stopped production some time in the 1970s. Fortunately, it was acquired by La-Joux Perret four years ago, and now it is finally ready to make a comeback with its Angelus U10 tourbillon watch.

4. Understanding Japan’s Used Luxury Timepiece Market
Japan is the third largest economy in the world – after the U.S. and China – and so it is no surprise that they are also one of the largest markets for luxury watches. In fact, Japan is home to many impressive collections and you can see some of them if you spend enough time trawling various watch forums. Interestingly, it turns out now that they also have a very prolific second-hand luxury watch market. More interesting is the fact that data has shown that used watches from Japan sold for around 18% less than watches sold from sellers in the U.S. and the U.K. Why is that so? 5. Panerai Luminor Submersible Left-Handed Titanio PAM569 Watch Review
The Panerai Luminor Submersible Left-handed Titanio, or more simply the PAM 569, was one of my favorite new releases from Panerai in 2014. Its a limited edition model and has a left-handed titanium case and a dial with a waffle pattern and faux patina markers. This unusual combination makes it unique amongst Panerai’s Submersible divers. If you are looking for a distinctive, big, and high-end dive watch, it doesn’t get much better than this.
