F.P. Journe has been “inventing” and “making” watches since 1999, following the moto ‘Invenit et Fecit,’ and quickly established himself as one of the premier low volume watchmakers in Switzerland. Known primarily for his classic timepieces such as the Nouvelle Octa Lune, Mr. Journe shows he also has a penchant for fast wheels with the Linesport Collection, and the Centigraphe Sport Titane is the Formula One of watches.
The watch features enlarged numerals of 12, 8 and 4, and a boldly ergonomic chronograph highlighted by a grey barrier placed expertly in the stead at 2 o’clock 6 o’clock and 10 o’clock. An artistic touch of vibrant red in the skeletonized subdials illuminates the ‘S’ atop the dial, tying the colour scheme stylishly together. There exists a circular glass in each sub-dial which enables you to peer through the surface to distinguish the mechanism oscillating beneath.
If one looks closely at the titanium bracelet one will spy small slithers of black rubber cemented between the bracelets blocks, like imitation bricks and mortar of a sturdy foundation, most probably visually suggesting to F.P Journe’s choice to raise funds by donating 30% of each timepieces profit sold to support ICM institute in Paris, endeavouring to culminate research in hopes of fighting Brain and Spinal Cord Disease.
Every piece is designed and hand-made in house by F.P. Journe. The incorporation of such a durable material as rubber for the accents; crown and pusher, speaks for itself. The unusually long luminous style hands are protected by sapphire crystal. The aluminium baseplate is finished with a Geneva wave pattern. It boasts a modest case size of 34.40mmx34.00mm which is comfortable for the wearer whilst exercising or for an entire days wear.
There are no sharp components to this watch; the casing, bezel and bracelet links are rounded off giving the watch a softer appearance, coupled with its surprising light weight. For this very reason, this particular timepiece could also be complimentary to a woman’s wrist due to its gentle look. F.P Journe, really strived to stamp his mark of craftsmanship by printing his name on the clasp, approving of a watch designed for an active person with a fast paced lifestyle.
