Introducing The Richard Mille Evil Eye RM 26-02 Tourbillon Watch (Live Pics, Specs…)
Take a look at the new Richard Mille Evil Eye RM 26-02 Tourbillon! It’s staring right at you. A modern day talisman to protect against negative forces, the Evil Eye RM 26-02 Tourbillon timepiece is designed by the famed Geneva-based artist craftsman, Olivier Vaucher. It is one of two new limited edition tourbillon calibers presented by Richard Mille at Watches & Wonders 2015.
Vaucher brings to life the evil eye using several layers of oxides on the gold dial. It is the latest masterful example, and modern application, of the traditional grand feu enamel technique, during which the motif on the dial is fired several times between 800° and 900°C until the evil eye’s colours appear in full detail. The flames are later subjected to meticulous micro-lacquerwork by hand, to further amplify the realism of the Evil Eye RM 26-02 Tourbillon timepiece.
Richard Mille chose the low-density TZP black ceramic to craft the bezel and caseback of the RM 26-02 Tourbillon watch, as it is an immensely scratch-resistant and has a low thermal conductivity coefficient providing a perfect final matt surface finish. Sapphire crystal with anti-glare treatment on both sides of the glass reveal the beauty of the enamel and the movement.
Ensured by two Nitril O-ring seals, the tripartite case is water resistant to 50 meters, with the caseband forged in red gold 5N. It took 12 spline screws in grade 5 titanium and abrasion resistant washers in 316L stainless steel to assemble the case.
The in-house caliber RM26-02 features a manual winding tourbillon movement with hours, minutes and power reserve of approximately 48 hours. The power reserve is indicated applying a differential power reserve system wherein a printed red line on a moving disc located between 10 and 11 o’clock denotes number of remaining hours. The Evil Eye RM 26-02 Tourbillon watch comes in a limited edition of 25 pieces, and will only be available for purchase at Richard Mille boutiques worlwide.
