New Anonimo Watches For 2010 Watch Releases

I recently learned that Italian Anonimo watches have returned to the US. Sources indicated that until just recently they had abandoned the United States market! Now Anonimo USA is pledging a full scale eruption of “Anonomic” proportions. Well I just made that one word up, but it seems to fit. With a history linked to Panerai and a style that is similar, the brand has a rich and dedicated following with some good looking products. I’d love to get my hands on some soon. Click here for an example of a very long and through homage to their popular Polluce line of watches.

Anonimo has a few new interesting watch for us to enjoy. Here are three of them that are interesting and display for you what is common for the brand. Starting from the top here are the Anonimo Cronoscopio Mark II, D-Date II and the Pulluce Magnum. You can see while each of them is similar in style, there are enough differences in each for Anonimo to say that they don’t just change around dials to make new watches. Plus the styles of each is just a mere military style analog. Each has its one special sort of uniqueness that gives the brand arguably more character than greats such as Panerai.

The Cronoscopio Mark II watch is large at 48.5mm wide and in black steel (case is 200 meters water resistant and the crystal is of course sapphire). Like each of these watches, Anonimo uses a special Drass blackening process for the black toned steel. Note the non black pushers and large crown. I like the easy to read bubble style font that is anything but typical for an “instrument watch,” yet does not feel out of place. Inside the watch is a Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic movement that has the subsidiary seconds dial removed for a bi-compax look. I would normally argue that Anonimo should have given the watch a black disc for the date and date, but the white tone fits here. Otherwise a pretty standard, yet nice watch. The watch also is available in a non-black polished steel version. Price is about $6,000.

Next is my favorite of the bunch, the Anonimo D-Date II (new style of the original D-Date watch). The watch is a bit smaller at 43mm wide and in black toned sand-blasted steel. The blackening process is not PVD, but uses something called Ox-Pro, as well as Drass. I honestly don’t know enough about these exotic processes, but Ox-Pro is for making the steel black and Drass is supposed a process to make the sand-blasted steel highly anti-reflective and anti-corrosive. Then you have the polished and brushed 4N tone 18k gold (which it uses again on the crown a bit). Style here is a bit more classic Anonimo with the arrow style hour markers and the signature hands. Not to mention the four placed Arabic numeral hour markers. The watch is attached to a high quality Kodiak coated leather strap (for extreme salt water resistance). The watch is water resistant to 500 meters and I believe has a helium escape valve on the left side of the case. Inside the watch is a modified Swiss ETA 2834-2 automatic movement, that has the day and date moved to the top and bottom of the dial. A really nice clean military look with some added luxury and an attractive masculine look. Price is $6,800.

Last is the new Anonimo Polluce Magnum. Based on the popular Anonimo Polluce watches, this large 45.5mm wide watch has Anonimo’s version of a skeletonized dial. Plus, the case is done in the rare for watch case bronze metal. It is a special alloy of bronze  (UNI5272) that has been sand blasted as well with a satin and brushed finish. The bronze alloy is apparently used in certain types of water borne nautical instruments and weapons. The case is water resistant to 120 meters and have an automatic helium escape valve. I am not sure if I am in love with their style of skeletonized dial, but it is not too bad. Probably doesn’t detract from legibility in the watch. Inside the watch is a Swiss ETA 2824-2 or SW200 automatic movement (both are the same movement made by different companies. Price is $5,500.
