Just two years ago, Ulysse Nardin shook the haute horology scene with the introduction of the “Stranger,” a charming timepiece fitted with a mechanical music box that played a few bars of the Frank Sinatra classic, “Strangers in the Night.” Now, the innovative watchmaker is updating its “Stranger” by reaching into sonic history, and pulling forth something even more classical. At the wearer’s request, or on the hour, the newest rendition of the in-house developed, self-winding, musical watch plays “Violin Concerto in E” from famed Baroque composer Vivaldi.
The timepiece’s musical abilities aren’t its only innovation. Winding the watch, as well as changing the time and date, are handled by triggering the crown functions over a pusher instead of pulling a crown. The watch’s movement allows for adjustments to be made with a simple forward or backward movement of the crown, making things incredibly easy on the wearer. Strikingly modern, the watch is fitted with sleek lines, while golden roman numerals mark the hours. The piece also includes an original medallion fitted to the back, denoting the watch as an authentic Ulysse Nardin original. The watch is currently fitted in 18k rose gold, but the watchmaker hints that other colors may be on their way.
