Haute Time visited the newly opened Audemars Piguet boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. And, we discovered the most coveted timepieces, which of course we had to capture through our lens, in a never before seen perspective.
The hand-wound Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph in a 18-carat pink gold 44 mm case with hand-stitched ‘large square scale’ brown alligator strap sits with panache on the wrist. The dial is in fact the mainplate of the movement while pink gold hands tell the time. The in-house calibre Manufacture 2941 powers the timepiece which comes with a power reserve of 237 hours at the least.
Through the glareproofed sapphire crystal the impressive functions of the watch are visible: the gravity-defying tourbillon, linear chronograph minute counter with central sweep seconds hand, a power reserve indicator and a selection indicator, with hands indicating to the hours and minutes of course.
The hand-would Royal Oak Tourbillon Chronograph in a titanium case shows off the openworked slate grey dial in full glory. The counters are in slate grey while the hour markers are in applied white gold. A grey rubber strap completes the sophisticated look of the timepiece, which is powered by the hand-wound in-house calibre 2936 movement and comes with a power reserve of at least 72 hours.
With beauty more than skin deep, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding models in pavé diamonds captures one’s attention in swooning opulence, with the white gold model in 37-mm clearly targeted at the women watch connoisseur. The encrusting of brilliant-cut diamonds on the case as well as the dial, simply increases its desirability in rose gold (41 mm case) and in white gold. Bearing all of the Royal Oak’s hallmarks such as octagonal bezel and the obvious screws design, they also sport sparkling luxury. The diamonds further stand-out against the alligator leather strap, adding a confident tone. Driving these timepieces, is the in-house automatic movement – the calibre 3120.
