Feeling Blue: 21 Watches With Blue Dials and Blue Straps
Blue watches are one of the growing style trends seen in the watch world in the past few years — and on display at the watch shows in Switzerland and in the U.S.A. —, with blue-on-blue dial-strap combinations. We took a look at such blue watches with blue dials and blue straps released within the past few years, and compiled a list of 20 timepieces from brands on the blue-dial bandwagon.
Bremont’s U-2 Blue chronometer takes its design cues from a model worn by Israeli armed forces and retails for $5,495. The watch was tested by U2 pilots at 100,000 ft in temperatures of -50 degrees Celsius. The U-2 Blue comes in either a calfskin leather strap or NATO military nylon strap, both in a dark navy blue that matches the dial.
To celebrate the 275th anniversary of the first watch made by its namesake, watchmaker Pierre Jaquet-Droz, Jaquet Droz updated its Grande Seconde series with a modernized Grande Seconde Quantième model. The watch, in a 43-mm case with côtes de Genève pattern on the dial, simplifies the Grand Seconde design, replacing the Arabic and Roman numerals of previous models with simple markers for the hours.
Frédérique Constant is introducing its manufacture moon-phase movement with the release of the Frédérique Constant Slimline Moonphase Manufacture. The watch, with a starting price of only $3,550, offers a single-crown adjustment system for setting the time, date and moon-phase. Among the five styles available is the model pictured above with a navy blue dial and matching alligator strap in a stainless steel case.
Rolex launched a colorful new lineup of Day-Date watches in five different color variations at Baselworld 2013. Among them is a model featuring a blue dial with sunray finish and a matching blue alligator strap. The blue-dial version of the new Day-Date comes in an 18k white gold case, 36 mm in diameter.
